-- No Matter What Has Happened -- By John Herlihy No matter what has happened, No matter what will ever happen, No matter what is about to happen, This moment is what is happening. Nothing ever did happen again, Some things will never happen, Some things not about to happen, Only this moment is happening. I wish some things never happened, I wish some things would happen, I wish some things about to happen, But this moment is now happening. Sweet memories of the past happen, Sweet longings for the future happen, Hope for what is about to happen, This moment is what is happening. Distinctive smoke of the cigar happened, Reminding me that my father happened, The unique smell of hand cream happened, Reminding me that my mother happened. The days that will never come back, The days that will surely arrive, The day that is about to happen, The moment that is now happening. How glorious to be where we were, How glorious to be where we’re going, How glorious where we are about to be, How glorious to be in this moment. Instead of thinking what never happened, Instead of thinking what will happen, Instead of thinking what is about to happen, Let’s think of the moment now happening. Yes, all we have is what happened to us before and what will happen to us in the near future and really nothing more we have to concern ourselves about. Life continues to get better for all of us, in general, worldwide. However, individuals are discovering setbacks. I find that here with authors on AD, aging and the fear of aging is a big issue. When as little as 50 years ago, many of us would be dead or severely disabled without the medicine of today.

I have a very good retirement Medicare advantage program sponsored by my former state employer in retirement that pays all the bills. Unfortunately, partly because of the pandemic, I hadn't taken advantage of these benefits until this year, procrastinating a bit. Suddenly, I find myself going to the doctor very frequently, fortunately finding nothing wrong, thank goodness, with lots of information I didn't have before and doctors and dentists requiring me to follow up much more often, largely because that's how they get paid, not because I'm getting worse with age.

So that's my immediate future with many more doctor visits and medical diagnostics and treatment--egad!

As many believe, everything past present and future is happening all at once on a vertical timeline instead of a horizontal one. We just pick our choice of reality for now.
