-- In the Promise of the Bud --

By John Herlihy

In the promise of the bud

Lies the bloom of the flower.

In the seconds and minutes

Lies the fullness of the hour.

In the shells of a tree

Lies the kernel of an almond.

In the planting of a seed

A sycamore is summoned.

In the facts of knowledge

Lies the nuggets of wisdom.

In the patience of waiting

Lies a beautiful kingdom.

In the falsity of lies

Lies the verity of the truth.

In the fullness of the truth

Lies the emptiness of a lie.

In the tail of a peacock

Lies its feathered plume.

In the aroma of a scent

Lies the blessing of perfume.

In a paarched desert

Lies a hidden well.

In a wondrous miracle

Lies a mystical spell.

In the enigma of a mystery

Lies the surety of a certainty.

In the secret of a mystery

Lies the revelation of a certainty.

In the beating of the heart

Lies the drum of harmonies.

In the breath of the breast

Lies the answer to the mysteries.

WITH THE PROMISE OF THE BUD...THERE IS THE HOPE FOR ANOTHER DAY, TOMORROW! SO SMALL, AND YET FILLED WITH UNLIMITED POSSIBILITIES, INDEED. INSPIRING, MY FRIEND. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

What appears to be opposites, often is not. And what appears to be corollaries, often is not. Otherwise, the basic structure seems to be intact and carried throughout like many of your poems. But you seem to have been dashing about corollaries to use.

There's a far cry between a blossoming of a bud and the blooming lie.

Nicely done. Although somewhat random with choices to express the premise, it works. I found myself having to read it twice to make sure I was connecting all properly to the resolution. You might consider exchanging the last and the second to-last stanzas. Just a thought, but for me, there's more finality by switching.
