-- Brave --

by John Herlihy

Oh bravery! Where are you lodged?

In the vaulting of one’s heart forged.

An ocean found in the drop of a tear,

A candle found in the maelstrom of fear.

Amid all the failure, a desire to be brave,

A votive candle alone in a church nave.

The heart be crushed, but brave the face,

The feeling of being lost in a familiar place.

Reflected sunlight in waters of a deep well,

Hope heard in the silence of a tolling bell.

A weak fabric can hold stitches of strength,

Woven into the warp and woof of its length.

In depths of sadness, an extended hand kind,

A gesture, a blessing, illuminating the mind.

BRAVE...IS INTERPRETED BY EACH INDIVIDUAL PERSONAL DEFINITION. WHAT ONE SEES AS A PERSON BEING...BRAVE. ANOTHER CAN SEE THAT SAME CIRCUMSTANCE AND CALL THE PERSON...NIEVE. BRAVE, AMEN. THANKS FOR SHARING.LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

All of those lines you have written can illustrate bravery.

For bravery to appear a challenge must appear. In the bravery is how one goes about meeting the challenge. For me, it is not be fearful, but standing up for what is right, regardless of the consequences of that action.

So many times I been told by others… "Ron, you are so brave." When all I was doing was trying to do the right thing.

You must be absolutely speaking about this era the world is currently in with lack of bravery even if it causes harm to their family , themselves and friends. Without faith in action there is no hope. Without vision the people perish..

For me, perhaps the key word in this poetic exploration is "kind." I'm often reminded through my work and personal life that bravery is not thought of nearly as much as when I was younger. Yes, climbing rocky precipices called upon it often... even the last few miles in my marathon running grabbed me, shook me, "get a hold on it, guy." But the days passing now have me feeling with worry of bravery as I attempt to think "kindness" is all that I do. Using that as my common denominator, most challenges are fended by a smile, a quiet voice, and the willingness to listen to what is being expressed without assuming it might be offensive to me. Only old orange face challenges my sense of bravery for OMG, it's unimaginable what a term of that non-leadership will do to
