-- Snow Geese -- by John Herlihy I ran out into the yard Breathless and expectant Looked up into the sky To see the snow geese The geese white as snow Black wing tips soaring I could hear their cries As they passed overhead Day and night they flew Tens of thousands of them Their long, ragged V-shapes Trailing across the heavens Urging each other forward With their harsh, sad cries I listened below in the cold Left behind for the winter - - - - - - Copyright © John Herlihy Saturday 30 March 2024

AHHHH...DEAR JOHN. AS I READ THIS I WAS REMINDED OF THAT WISH THAT YOU HAVE ABOUT FLYING. I BET AS YOU 'SAW' THE SNOW GEESE YOU REALLY WISHED THAT YOU COULD HAVE JOINED THEM. BUT ALAS...WINTER WAS YOUR FATE. WONDERFUL AND ENJOYED. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

We all look for harbingers of spring. Here, it's the return of my "ugly" irises and the spectacular blooming of my huge azalea bush, not to mention the return of all the birds in the woods out back. Soon I'll hear the little peeps of the chicks in the nests built in that azalea bush right outside my bedroom window. They're a welcome sign of the world's rebirth.

A poignant text that speaks with such quiet respect along with shouts of joy. Migration is all part of Mother Nature's design, including that of humans. Thank you for posting.
