-- Our Relationship with the Lord -- by John Herlihy Our relationship with the Lord but a mixed blessing, Mostly, we make way through our lives just guessing. Our commitment to ourselves questionable at best, We lie to ourselves, keep things close to the chest. My vision may be stone, but it is just a fake mask, Hell, sometimes I don’t know if I’m up to the task. We see the world as a fascinating thing to be seen, The days rumble by without knowing what they mean. We pretend to make choices and exercise free will, Wrapped in the embrace of destiny wondering still. Time, I said to myself, with God to get reacquainted, Surrender to sure realities, on the forehead anointed. It didn’t take long to weigh in on all the possibilities, I hear a whippoorwill sing in the silence of mysteries. - - - - - Copyright © John Herlihy Friday 5 July 2024

"Time, I said to myself, with God to get reacquainted." We say that about so many things: family, friends. Why not God, too? Unfortunately too many of us run out of town before we can follow through with the most important things on our "to do" list.
