Some Wishes Come True by John Herlihy Not everything comes true , We wish, and then we forget. Vanished as the wind blew, A faded wish turns to regret. Some things are but mere lies, Wishing to be something more. Falsehoods that serve as spies, Eyeing all the truths we adore. Still, some things do come true , Even when they be least expected. Things to happen that I always knew, Things that make me feel protected. A WISH PLACED IN THE HANDS OF GOD, BECOMES A HOPE. AND YES, THERE ARE TIMES WHEN SOME WISHES DO COME TRUE...AMEN! LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+ INSPIRATIONS.

I like the saying, "Be careful what you wish for, you might get it." People who wish for a lot of money and get it, often find that they have no idea how to manage it.

So your poem is a rather tease about wishes and wants. So often a wish is not what one needs.
