Time No Fixed Abode
by John Herlihy
Time follows no calendar,
Flowing thru open space.
On a journey as traveler,
Forced on the human race.
Time has no fixed abode,
Never stops to take rest.
On a swift stallion rode,
Without a home as nest.
Time symbolized in a glass,
Sands measuring the hour.
A river as the days pass,
But brief life for a flower.
Time accumulates years,
Into its boundless coffer.
There in celestial spheres,
Brief moments on offer.
With no time to borrow,
Enters eternal tomorrow.
Out of eternity an arrow
Thrust by the Divine Bow
