My Wheel of Misfortune

by John Herlihy

My wheel of misfortune turns with steady precision,

Appearing with exactitude thru the lens of a prism.

Its arrival so timely it sets the moment of the hour,

No subterfuge, no guesswork, we know its power.

The day shines light, but my inner world in shadow,

Misfortune as dark clouds that pass over a meadow.

Unsettling the mind with an unwillingness to depart,

They then sit morosely in the dark cave of the heart.

We go through life experiencing all kinds of weather,

Some days heavy as lead, some days light as a feather.

We feel disquieted and on edge, how long will this last?

We ask no questions, misfortune wants not to be asked.

Inevitability will always force misfortune’s wheel to turn,

Once again the wheel of fortune in this journey of return.

THE WHEEL LIFE TURNS AND WE ARE SUSTAINED THROUGH GOOD AND HARD TIMES AS WE HOPE AND TRUST IN HIM WHO ALWAYS WALKS BESIDE US. A VERY INSPIRING PIECE, JOHN. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

There is definitely an inevitability of misfortune that each of us succumbs to in this stage of life. It is remarkably multifaceted too, and I'm thinking (being who I am) affects people in two ways. Either they lose their faith in God altogether, or they start believing in Him even more. "...in the dark cave of the heart." I like that phrase John. Easy to relate to. Enjoyed this. Well done. Peace.

The Wheel of Fortune was my mom's favorite game show.

You are right in showing us that misfortune visits us all. For some, it's light and others it's heavy. That's why I don't judge people too quickly. Their lives can be turned completely around by a single misfortune.

My tenant fell at the bottom of the stairs last night. She had a couple of bumps, but fortunately did not break a bone or have any serious injury.

Misfortune seems imbeded in humanity's DNA. Perhaps such experiences are necessary for discovering and defining what lies beyond. I don't know. But, I choose to oblige most experiences, misfortunes or celebritory believing as I do that there's a lot to be said for the act of creating our own reality, owning it, and examining it for the lesson to be learned. Thanks for posting, John, as everyone needs to access their own misfortunes and what that truly means to them.

Omega Factor by John Henning

Take some time to walk outside of your own mind and into another, walk slowly and carefully; the mind that you step on might be your own.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
