                                       White Christmas

This year I really wanted to send

A personalized Christmas greeting

Never once even considering

All the problems I’d be meeting

It took me forever and a day

To find just the right rooftop

In the very heart of the big city

Located atop an old print shop

The photo backdrop was perfect

The frozen city looked great

Now to arrange the photo shoot

I just could not wait

But my pets were not too enthused

They didn’t like their costumes

They were cold and miserable

And hated the nasty rooftop fumes

They get kind of cranky

On every photo shoot

And most of them usually

Give me a hard time to boot

It took me forever

To get this one shot

And my many pets

Happy were not

None of them were injured

Whatsoever in any way

But since I slipped on the ice

I will never forget that day

As we finally headed back home

My pets were glad to be through

And I could see they were grinning

Since off that icy rooftop I flew

I only sprained my ankle

My injury was not that bad

I could tell that my photo subjects

Were just a wee bit glad

I think for next year’s card

I will simply photograph a tree

It will be a lot less hazardous

Especially – for me

My lovely spouse, knowing what I was up to, wouldn’t even

Get in the truck – when the critters and I left home at dawn.

Double Bummer!
