Poem Artwork
-->

“Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn.”

Elizabeth Lawrence

The seasons are a changin

There’s a rustlin in the air

I can feel it all around me

I can see it almost everywhere

My air conditioner is off

A cool breeze is waftin in

As I gaze up at the trees

I spot a tiny golden tint

My dogs have stopped sheddin

Ants are headin below ground

As I relax out on my back steps

To the breezy air I soon look around

The baby sparrows are now soarin

A few ducks and geese headin south

The chipmunk knows what’s comin

He’s storin nuts in his cheeky mouth

I truly love earth’s four varied seasons

I just couldn’t live where they don’t abound

Darkness visited me just a tad earlier yesterday

Signs of a glorious new Autumn now all around

Changes in our lives can be very good things

To me these seasonal changes never get old

And as I finally head back indoors to pen this

I can already feel a refreshing change in my soul

Yes I too love the beginning of each season; even winter :-)

Ed. You are a twin brother of nature. I can't imagine an author can give such a picture about nature just with his pen unless he and nature have something in common or are bonded stronger than others do.
Great poem. I really admired how beautifully you have crafted it.

Wow! The combination of this poem and the music causes me anticipation of the cooler weather to come - not yet here in Texas, but much better than the 100+ we've had for so long. Think I'll linger here a while and enjoy all the more!! Well done, Ed!

The pine barrens are the place to be during this change, watching all the animals making ready for winter as the trees begin to change, though pine trees barely and rarely ever totally change...Ed

PS: I could have sworn that sandy rear end was yours...;)

I feel exactly the same Mr Ed! This is a warm and wonderful intimate poem about you and nature, that really touches the heart. Like Susan I too see early changes with the animals and weather. Enjoy!;-)

I've been feeding the squirrels and chipmunks...the hummingbirds and feathered friends. They are all bulking up earlier it seems this year. I guess we're in for an early winter too. I love your writes of nature best Ed.

You have penned a beautiful ode to the change of seasons, and I concur to be without them would leave something missing in my life also.
