In our ever increasing polluted world
It gets harder every day for the fishermen
Like our land animals, the fish are disappearing
And many fish species will soon reach their end
And now, like the tainted toys and food from China
Unscrupulous businessmen are selling falsely labeled fish
When one dines in a fine gourmet restaurant expecting grouper
Its high paying patrons are likely to get Asian catfish on their dish
These mass produced catfish sell for about $2.50 a pound
And grouper these days by the pound, is at least 6 dollars
Even fish these days in our modern artificial world are fake
Which should make us all stand up, and finally begin to holler
Food inspectors recently walked into a food processing plant in Florida
And found workers taking 6,000 pounds of mass produced Asian catfish,
That sells wholesale for about $2.50 a pound,
And fraudulently re-packaging it as fresh grouper,
Which today goes for at least $6 a pound wholesale.
And there are many instances of falsely labeled food today,
Even including tuna.
And don’t think your family grocery store isn’t deceiving you, too;
This greedy, modern, polluted world of ours can truly make one blue.
And, worst of all,
Most of our politicians today say,
“Don’t Worry; Be Happy.”
I think it’s way past time,
For all of us,
To start worrying,
About All Sorts of Things.

I ran a seafood dept. for the supermarket chain where I am employed now(no longer in seafood). I can remember old-timers telling me about 'cod cheeks' being sold as deep sea scallops. I actually saw some one time, and yes, the uneducated eye wouldn't be able to tell. One thing that my customers always liked about me is that I told them the truth. If it cam in yesterday, I wouldn't tell them that it came in "just this morning". You write valuable words, Ed.
Did you know that fresh chicken that isn't sold by the required sell date is repacked after they take off the skin (thats where all the bacteria are) they then jack up the price! And old pork that didn't sell they throw alot of season salts on it...and yes jack up the price-YULK!! Oh Boy I Never Knew About The Fish!! I Love Catfish, actually I Just Love Fish

do we dig ponds in our yards and raise our own fish?? grow our own veggies, raise our own cattle.......oh god thats one thing i could not do, nuture an animal then eat it......sad....and if our land is untainted, how do we know what pestisides our neighbors have used and is it leeching into our soils.........greed is poison...all that China stuff gets me soooooooooo worried and scared....I worked in Taiwanese imports for almost 4 yrs.......I know they are big bullshitters, and sell loads of crap...they have no fear of law suits...their profits offset any losses....they want to compete with Japan.....and consider the American public foolish. Its sad...but here is an ironic and consequencequal note....the companay I worked for treated their asian workers terrible, very fuedal...they tried it with the american employees...lol....it just did not take at all...eventually the asian employees grew very confident and bold ...at least for their culture....and the place had an even keel...but the big wigs with all their greed and crazy stuff....well, all the crap they sold...backfired on them, all the grandstanding and showing off....they went out of business.......we lost our jobs...sadly, because all the employees bonded with each other...but life goes on....I was the receptionist.....and the switchboard lights went O U T......... pax A
