Tenth in the ‘Ed’ Series,

‘When We Ancient Eds Were-’

My Ed Photo Albums Go Back a Long Ways,

And a Humorous Memory, They Sometimes Stir

Alas, the Mounties had booted us from the Yukon

And now, we three Brother Eds, were trekking east

Through the very wilds of very remote central Canada

The sights and sounds of nature to me, were a real feast

And Alas, we three Brother Eds, were again low on grub

But luckily, we came upon a very friendly village of Ojibwa

Whom we now bartered with, for some provisions and a canoe

“All Right!” said Edvard, “We’ll be Wilderness Guides! Ha, Ha!”

“Wilderness Guides?!” quickly yelled old Brother Jersey Ed

“Where the hell are we now? And where the hell will we go?”

“Brother Jersey, why the hell do you always complain so much?

Let little Pee Wee sit in front of the canoe, these woods, he knows!”

So, we traveled ever eastward through uninhabited lakes and forests

But we found few ‘city slickers’ who would pay us, to be their guides

And Jersey Ed always wanted to stop for numerous ‘pee & smoke breaks’

And with all the beer Edvard had, there wasn’t room for more human hides

Good old Brother Edvard also kept complaining the whole time we traveled

He couldn’t find anyone who had Coors to trade, just Canadian Moosehead

Finally, after months and months of paddling and more paddling, ever eastward

Old Edvard proclaimed, “To Hell With This. We’re Gonna Be Fishermen Instead!”

“Huh??!!”

“Little Pee Wee Ed, can you find that old rascal, Mr. Fee’s Home??!!”

“Probably. But right now, pass me a Moosehead; I’m finishin this poem.”

“Oh, all right. Jersey Brother Ed, pass Pee Wee a beer, please.”

“Hey! How come yer always so damned nice to Pee Wee – Geez!”

“Oh, just shut up already. And paddle faster, you Ed numbskull.”

“Oh, yeah, Mr. Smarty Pants?!  I’m gonna tell Ma, you know.”

“Oh, go ahead, you big cry baby. You always do…”

A Very Amused Mr. Pee Wee Ed

DEAR LARRY, MOE, AND SHEMP!
YOUR NEFARIOUS DEEDS ARE UNKEMPT!
ALTHO' SHEMP PRECEDED, THEN FOLLOWED - CURLY,
YER PEARLY EARLY TREKS ARE STILL SQUIRRELY!

FYI - some possible background data for future "Tall Tales." ...

The Three Stooges got their name and their start in a vaudeville act called Ted Healy and his Stooges. Brothers Moe Howard (Moe) and Shemp Howard (Shemp) were later joined by Larry Fine. Shemp left for a career in feature movies (notably as trainer Knobby Walsh in the "Joe Palooka" movies, as well as numerous Abbott and Costello films and along side W. C. Fields in The Bank Dick ), and brother Jerome Howard (Curly) took his place.

Curly suffered a stroke in 1946 and Shemp left his own successful career to return to the trio. Shemp himself died of a heart attack in 1955.

Throughout their career, Moe was the heart and soul of the troupe, acting as both their main creative force and business manager. It was through Moe's investments and foresight that Curly and Larry were able to retire financially, as they were somewhat spendthrifts in their personal lives.

ERGO - I SUBMIT THAT MR. PEE-WEE ED IS REALLY -
NONE OTHER THAN MOE - THE TRUE BACKBONE OF THE TRIO!
COITANLY ...

NYECK - NYECK -NYECK ... TK ...

Ed, you are the champ. I get another Harlan Medlam and a poem posted, and come back here to find you've blown me away doing not only more ancient eds but several other things while I diddled away on a couple of things. I don't think there's a direct route unless the eds discover the northwest passage, but you could trek overland part of the time, go down to the Missouri River at St. Louis, take it to the Kaw at Kansas City, aka the Kansas, then pick up the Republican River to the Platte, and wallah, you are in Colorado. There you sell all the Moosehead you brought with you, and pick up a load of Coors. Then follow your course back to St. Louis where you pick up the Anheuser Bush products, and go back to Canada to swap for Moosehead. Naturally with a profit each way, you eds could be quite profound beer traders, that is, if you could ever get anywhere without drinking your merchandise and pissing away the profits.........Jerry
