-A Follow-up To Howlin At The Moon-
“Every man has his own destiny;
The only imperative is to follow it,
And to accept it, no matter where it leads.”
Henry Miller
I was out on the lake
It was a lovely night
Nocturnal lake sounds
Filling me with delight
The full moon above
The crickets in song
Soul soothing sounds
Righting all the wrong
The night breeze wondrous
A hint of Autumn in the air
I glided along in serene bliss
Creation’s gifts - everywhere
And then I heard it
Was that a sad meow?
I looked to the shoreline
He was there, somehow
A dark, silky black cat
Soulfully staring at me
His yellow eyes, so sad
He looked forlorn, indeed
I soon said, ‘Hello, Midnight,
Are you in need of a new home?’
He meowed at me, and at the moon
A new friend, and a brand new poem
Every man has his own destiny;
The only imperative is to follow it,
And to accept it, no matter where it leads.
There just might be a friend in need,
Out there, right now, looking for you;
We must all follow, and accept, our destiny.
