Oh Ed, what a shameful tale. My heart goes out to Scruffy and so many just like him. It really is cruel and yes how many of us would manage to survive if the shoe were on the other foot...

These type of people should be locked up, As you said, dogs are more human then so many of these low lifes (*^!!*)and it is a crime against humanity. I only hope these people don't have children.

I've found that the main reason dogs are abandoned is because the owners don't know what they are getting into. They think the dog is cute so they buy it don't know how to train it so they leave because its not what the "wanted" or "expected". Its a sad world these days and these tales just make it even worse. I've found that man's best friend is truly the best friend man can find. There is no one else that loyal, loving, and caring. I don't understand how anyone could abandon them but it happens. Its a cold hard fact of life, one i wish wasn't true. Dogs are humans in disguise, they should all be treated that way.

You are so right, back when my kids were young a sheep dog followed them home from a girl guide hike...he was starving and limping and as it was beside a major highway he figured out someone had dumped him. We got him better and found him a home on a farm...sad all the samee.

Sometimes the word "human" is used very loosely!!! Anyone who could harm an animal is not "human" and is a complete waste of air!!!! Am I angry? You bet!!!!! Very significant write, Ed. I'm so glad you put these things out there.

Aliens, would be a better word, than humans, it touches those that are, and know the word humane, although not a dog, a horse in Greece was dragged behind a car for two hours, ribbed apart guts hanging out, all skin shaved off, still alive the owner rolled the crying animal into the ditch, he was laughing and proud of his deed, a retired police officer, a kind vet than later put the animal out of it's misery, the authorities are lothe to investigate and prosecute, humans, did you say, there are few left on this planet, just look around and see what we are doing to all animals. Yes indeed dog is man's best friend, or to be politically correct woman's also, I just wish we'd all do what is politically correct, and vote correct, to correct this tradegedy in the animal kingdom, especially pooches.
