I don’t believe that any dog, is inherently vicious
We vicious human beings, attempt to make them so
The story of Brutus and Rebus, is a very good example
And, theirs is a tale, that every human being, should know
Three vicious dog fighters, had been torturing, both of these dogs
Forcing them, to battle each other, so they could make a lot of cash
When the Sheriff’s Department raided their basement dog fighting ring
Both of these dogs were almost dead - wounded, bleeding, and fading fast
Fifty human beings, including young children, were all delighting, in their agony
Not one of them, cared one bit, that both of these dogs, would now be put to sleep
But very uncharacteristically, a compassionate member of Animal Care and Control
Decided that both of these dogs, deserved a chance, and their lives, they would keep
Both Brutus and Rebus were brought back to health, after months of medical rehabilitation
And, many of us followed this court case, with much interest, in these two tortured canines
The Judge made a most unusual, and a very much needed ruling, in this animal cruelty case
These three vicious dog fighters, had to pay for both dogs’ huge medical bills, in hefty fines
Today, nearly two years after their lives were spared, Brutus and Rebus, are the best of friends
They’re both very docile around human beings, and they now live together, on a sanctuary farm
We, as a nation, have to start advocating for much tougher animal cruelty laws, and enforcement
So that many other dogs, like Brutus and Rebus, can live out their lives, without torture or harm
Each and Every Day, In Our Nation, Today,
Thousands of Animals, Suffer Immense Cruelty;
It is Our Species, That Exhibits This Viciousness,
And This Fact, Should Fill None of Us, With Glee.
I helped to rescue quite a few so called ‘Vicious Pit Bulls,’
After Hurricane Katrina had tragically devastated New Orleans;
The vast majority of these canines were quite docile, and appreciative,
Most canines, if treated with kindness and compassion, are rarely mean.

I owned a huge Rotti Name Of cause "Rocky" weight
at least 120 lbs, was the most gentle giant
At the time my twin granddaughters were learning to walk
in walkers they would take turns chasing Rocky to feed him scraps
he would gently nibble it off their tiny fingers.....
the twins would then grab his tongue and pull on it
the poor creature just stood their with a sad face, not whimpering nor growling...... until they released him.... the big lug that he was just stood there for more scraps.......and some say Rotties are killer dogs......yes they might be, only if trained to do so as all other Dogs in this world
