Far too many wonderful dogs and cats
Are abused and abandoned, these days
These two adorable orphans of the storm
Have finally found their loving home today
Elsie was cowering down by the railroad tracks
Emaciated, starving, weighing about 16 pounds
With tender loving care, she now weighs in at 60
And today, she is one of the happiest dogs around
Old Beauregard was aimlessly wandering the mean city streets
Too many people just ignored his dire plight, and walked on by
He was finally taken in by a most compassionate neighbor of mine
He had been tortured, abused, and tossed – today, a common crime
Most of the people taking pity on orphans like Elsie and Beauregard
Are already animal lovers, and have a house full of strays of their own
Today, with America’s shelters now overflowing, with so many animals
It is getting harder and harder, to find orphans like these, a loving home
Elsie was nursed back to health, by a most compassionate foster family
Beauregard spent many months as a mascot, at a small newspaper facility
Where he would so happily greet each and every visitor, every single day
When I would visit there, I always knew I’d get his nonstop kisses, for free
Very recently, both Elsie and Beau were adopted, by a wonderful family
These days, both of these dogs can be seen, romping in their own backyard
I only wish there were far more happy endings, for far more of these orphans
Today, far too many disrespect man’s best friend, and make their lives so hard
Far too many wonderful dogs and cats,
Being abused and abandoned these days;
These two adorable orphans of the storm,
Have finally found their loving home today.
Please don’t ignore the plight of today’s orphans,
Please do whatever you can, to foster and/or adopt;
Please help us, to end their endless suffering and abuse,
If more people don’t become advocates, it will never stop.
