“To close your eyes,

Will not ease another’s pain.”

“To imagine life is good,

Will not make it so.”

Native American Proverbs

I got another telephone call

About another pathetic stray

Spotted in a dark, dirty alley

He broke my heart yesterday

I found him in a deep stairwell

He looked like he had given up

So miserable, he would not move

Sores and parasites covered this pup

I sat there with him for quite some time

At the bottom of that dirty dark stairwell

Wondering, how so many didn’t even care

Wondering, how long he had been in this hell

Wondering, how we’ve let these things happen

To the animals, we like to call man’s best friend

Knowing, that there are many more, just like him

All over America, now giving up, at their very end

I eventually began talking to him and stroking his head

He eventually turned to me, and looked up into my eyes

His were filled with utter sadness, loneliness, and despair

Mine were filled with both sadness and anger, for his kind

He eventually struggled to his feet, and I put a leash on him

We rode in silence and in sadness, to a nearby animal hospital

He is now finally receiving the help that he so desperately needs

I sit here thinking of him, and waiting for the next ‘dog in hell’ call

“To close your eyes,

Will not ease another’s pain.”

“To imagine life is good,

Will not make it so.”

Unbelievable. I believe. Is there muchmore room in hell?

Reviewed on August 26, 2010
No, to close our eyes or look away will definitely not ease another's pain. Our indifference can actually, make such pain worse... or become criminal, in many cases. Bless you, my friend, for once more keeping your eyes as wide open as your heart - and I wish your new canine friend a full and quick recovery... both physical and emotional. Please keep us updated!
Hugs from P.T.N.

Dear God, what is happening to humanity when there is so much cruelty all around and so few compassionate hearts to lend a helping hand. Children and pets, it never seems to end. God bless this pup and you for stepping in...

Be always safe,
Karen

God that's bad. I hope he does ok. Do you follow up on your rescued critters? I'd like to hear something positive come from your noble efforts. Patrick

Ed,

God Bless for rescuing these poor animals. I just wish there were more we could do, or the problem didn't exist.

So sad ... what we humans do to innocents. :( And there are those who love them and care for them ... God bless you, and them, for having a heart for the lost and abandoned ones.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
