The day had dawned magnificently
A gorgeous, sun-filled, October day
My spouse and I looked at each other
“It’s gotta be time for a trip to the bay.”
Our dogs had instinctively sensed our mood
They somehow knew they were now in luck
They absolutely adore long rides of any kind
All of them quickly jumped into my old truck
Several hours later, we had now arrived
At our designated get-a-way, on the bay
A rustic little place that time has forgotten
Nature’s magnificent colors now on display
When my spouse and I had first met
We spent a lot of time here, by the bay
In a very cozy little cottage on the water
A place we truly loved to visit and to play
Our favorite very quaint old Christmas Shoppe
The tiny romantic restaurant down by the sand
The pub, where we drank and danced each night
Our little place of magic between woman and man
Leisurely strolls and swims along the sandy shore
Spring fishing excursions that filled us with delight
Skiing and ice skating when the frost of winter came
Gazing up into the vast northern sky in the moonlight
We had quickly become captivated by this place
In all four lovely seasons, in all types of weather
It is a place, that holds many truly fond memories
It’s a place, we have always loved visiting together
This Fall’s get-a-way was no exception
As we strolled along the shore, in awe
Rejoicing in Autumn’s wondrous colors
So very grateful to be here with our dogs
