典hink occasionally of all the suffering,

Of which you spare yourself the sight.箱

Albert Schweitzer

I first spotted him a week ago

While searching for another dog

Sadly trudging down a dark alley

In the chilly rain and mist and fog

I called out to him, and he paused

But fear and distrust were in his face

He has obviously been abused by man

The type of abuse that shames our race

I知 guessing he was purchased in a store

At a shopping mall - born in a puppy mill

His purchaser thought him extremely cute

But soon gone, were the novelty and thrill

I知 guessing he was beaten, whenever he made a mess

I知 guessing, he was eventually banished out to the yard

I知 guessing, he was eventually booted out, or ran away

But I do not have to guess, that his life now, is very hard

I have been following after him, for about a week now

As he scurries along in the dark, digging through the trash

He knows that I知 following him, but he doesn稚 know why

And, like so many other throw-aways, his distrust is steadfast

I had to follow our little throw-away Jack for quite some time

Before he finally decided that I did not want to harm or abuse

I知 determined to establish some trust, with distrusting 全cruffy

Who deserves far better than he has, who deserves to win, not lose

But I sadly know, the longer it takes, to help this one

The more throw-aways, that I will most assuredly find

What so many people are now doing to 僧an痴 best friend

Makes me more and more ashamed these days, of our kind

The picture that you display with these touching words shows perfectly the sadness, fright and distrust of this little 'throw-away'.

Mr. Ed,
Keep writing for our animals who can't speak for themselves. You are their voice, Ed. I have a little dog, I can never comprehend how anyone could mistreat these precious souls.

Many blessings,
~Linda
