Indeed, KB was right on the money. However, will we survive long enough to reach 10 billions. Whether we do or nay is open to conjecture, but one thing's for-sure. Once man is no more the Earth will regenerate and not give a damn what we did. And whatever form species take they'll carry on regardless of our pathetic worldly EGO's and meaningless, futile legal murder.

Not only is the population exploding but so is consumer demand and greed, bigger homes, more vehicles etc. I mean do two or three people need a fifteen room home or four cars....makes one wonder what will be left in years to come.

I keep hearing talk of 'growth' 'right to life' 'feed the hungry' 'economic freedom' 'clean coal' 'bio-fuel' 'nuclear power' 'clean natural gas' as we deny our own greed and slide toward Heilbroner's 'runaway train toward the precipice.

Until now, each generation has had it better. Let's hope that we come to our senses and save ourselves.

Keep speaking out, Ed. I saw this first hand when they were widening the highway. If we staggered workforce hours, we wouldn't have everyone out at once clogging the highways. And that's just a tiny aspect of the issue. Scary how we conquer and pillage.

Scary Stuff Ed. You'd think education and technology would help to slow down or reverse this trend, but at this point that doesn't seem to be happening. We've doubled in 40 years, meaning we'll likely double again in another 30 or less if we don't get a handle on it. Talk about SCARY STUFF!!!! It’s so sad to say and none of us like to think about it, but Tsunami's, earthquakes, floods and wars do serve the purpose of helping to "thin the herd." Dick
