I didn’t have to wait very long into the new year
Before I got yet another extremely sad phone call
“There is a tiny terrified dog, shivering in a park,
Can you please help us catch her, before nightfall?”
When I got to the park, my heart broke when I saw her
She was filthy, and frozen feces clung to her matted hair
She was shivering uncontrollably, and extremely terrified
I soon wondered how long she’d been wandering out here
Thankfully, we soon caught her and I carried her to my truck
She was shaking and trembling, as she crept up into my lap
I stroked her matted head for a long time, and talked to her
Before we got to the animal hospital, she took a needed nap
“I see that the new year is starting as the old one ended” the vet said
“This one is truly a beat up, starving, scared, and smelly, little orphan”
He examined her, and then he chuckled when I named her ‘Little Pooh’
Our first homeless waif of the new year, her ordeal now finally at an end
Of course Little Pooh the starving matted Poodle, had no tags or microchip
The vet and I both now sadly wondered if she had been dumped in this park
“We will take good care of her now” he said, and I said “I know that you will”
It’s gonna be another sad year for dogs I decided, as I drove home in the dark

brown hi lights and sparkling eyes. He is getting on in years now bowever, he is ssmart, gentle, sweet and likes to be petted,and cuddled. Needs lots of love etc. He is a delight with the old, children and anyone who will give him attentionl so I'm sure the female will be likewise.
