“Out of the bosom of the air, out of the cloud-folds of her garments shaken,
Over the woodlands brown and bare, over the harvest-fields forsaken,
Silent, and soft, and slow, descends the snow.”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
They had cascaded down all night
These lovely snowflakes from on high
Little Jack seemed very eager for a walk
So he and I, were out of our door, by five
What a truly marvelous feeling as we walked on
Soft white snow, soon crunching beneath our feet
A soothing, cloud-like presence, as we gazed about
And such heavenly silence, not another soul did we meet
I love early morning walks, before the world awakens
And I especially love them after an entire night of snow
This gift from the clouds covered all, in wondrous white
Little Jack and I were in heaven, and onward did we go
He delighted in each and every heavenly smell he came upon
I delighted in the heavenly scenery and in the heavenly silence
What a marvelous contrast, to our hectic, bustling, noisy world
This other world experience, for the both of us, was heaven sent
We walked on and on both delighting in our visit to this heavenly realm
And I soon thanked God for each of Earth’s four seasons as we strolled
I could never live anywhere on Earth, that did not contain all four of them
This early morning walk, in this heavenly winter realm, had soothed my soul
They had cascaded down all night,
These lovely snowflakes from on high;
Little Jack seemed very eager for a walk,
So he and I, walked out of our door, by five.

Nice poem Ed, I much prefer reading about snow as opposed to living with it. Thanks Dick
