I was sent a saddening e-mail
About a dog chained in a yard
‘No Food, No Love, No Hope’
For this dog, life was too hard
I went to the address given to me
His plight soon brought me to tears
Concerned neighbors informed me
He’d been chained out here, for years
In summer’s heat, this dog lacked enough fresh water
In winter’s cold, he was without any shelter of his own
To myself and others, this canine deserved far better
And we now pledged to find him a much better home
We soon enlisted the help of a law enforcement officer
Who tried to convince his owner that this wasn’t right
So this human pretended to show a little compassion
He took the dog inside, until the officer left that night
By the very next morning, this canine was chained again
So, several people now began complaining to the police
His owner eventually tired of all the fuss over ‘just a dog’
And he eventually changed his mind, and signed a release
This neglected dog has been taken to an animal hospital
Where he is being treated for malnutrition and parasites
Now, everyone involved in this rescue, is finally satisfied
To all of us, he is not ‘just a dog’ - to us, he, too, has rights
If Mankind’s Devoted Best Friend,
Is Far More Than ‘Just a Dog’ To You,
Please Report All Abuse That You Encounter,
Until All of This Man-Made Abuse is Through.
And Please Help Us Spread The Word,
That October is ‘Adopt A Dog Month;’
So Many of Them Need a New Friend,
Please Help Us To Save The Life of One.

I am appalled at these sorts of
people, and heartbreaking to look
at this beautiful creature so
horribly neglected.
