“There is a beast in man that should be exercised, not exorcised.”
Anton Lavey
My spouse has always claimed
That I am more canine than man
Maybe because I howl quite often
In fact, just about every chance I can
I can still vividly remember when I first started
It was on a camping trip up in the northern wood
I found myself howling at the moon with my dogs
It was quite exhilarating, this howling felt so good
And now, I found myself also learning from my dogs
How to sniff all about, and discover tasty things to eat
Last night, on the lakeshore, in the light of the full moon
We sniffed out some wild berries, a delicious late night treat
My night vision also now seems to have improved quite substantially
And my hearing somehow also seems to be much better than it was
For some reason, my wife refuses to join us on our full moon outings
As my dogs and I rejoice in howling up at the splendid full moon above
Native Americans who lived here called June’s full moon the ‘Strawberry Moon’
Because they knew that it was now time to pick the delicious wild strawberries
Although my spouse now often ridicules me for being more canine than human
She now always says “Please bring home as many wild berries as you can carry!”
But just this morning, as she delighted in enjoying some of them for breakfast
She looked at me, and insisted that I needed a haircut, a shave, and a hot bath
I looked at her, and I told her that the beast in me wasn’t ready for any of those
When I ran back outside howling with our dogs, I could hear her mocking laugh
“There is a beast in man that should be exercised, not exorcised!” I yelled back
But I guess I’ll take a bath in the lake, then in the shade with my dogs, a little nap

chuckle, fun read
I'm with you except for the howling part. My night vision is very good and I always loved hearing night sounds, part of my primal nature.
My little Pomeranian, Jazz, was a thoroughly dominant male who attacked with a feigned viciousness and often melted into a marshmallow disposition. When provoked he barked a lot, but I never heard him howl. And then one night, we were upstairs in my den, when he suddenly started howling like a wolf. I was quite surprised. He never did it again. Could it have been a strawberry moon that night?

but be careful with that sniffing,
it can lead you to an end.

Last night the moon was so bright and large and mighty.
How nice we connect thru the one moon, you the moon and me this way!!
Tell the wife you better come along or there will be many who will come along with me to howl and share my game with the dogs and the moonJK
