Poem Artwork
-->“The day, the night, the water, the sun, the moon –
I do not have to purchase any of these things,
With money.”

Plautus

What a truly magnificent night, to be alive
On this lakeshore, under this Super Moon
A front row seat here, with my faithful dogs
In the distance, a heavenly chorus of loons

I cannot think of a place I’d rather be, right now
Gazing up at this Super Moon, on this lakeshore
Surrounded only by God-given, natural, wonders
My entire life, it’s the simple gifts of nature I adore

Soon, we spot a family of deer heading to the shore
Then, we spot a night raptor, high in the skies above
And then, we hear a very plaintive howl, high on a hill
I am now completely surrounded, by everything I love

The sound of this lone timber wolf quickly inspires all of my canines
They soon lift their heads to the heavens, and they now all howl, too
What a truly magnificent moment, which I will always cherish forever
Here on this lakeshore, here on this night, here under this Super Moon

Let me even the score and say that you describe precisely what I remember and long to see again. Not just the moment on a sparkling clear night, but to hear the night sounds that I heard so many years and to hear a wolf howl like my Pomeranian did one strange night. Your dogs are letting you know where they come from: their long past lives as wolves that still kindle a kinship among canines.

You always said that when you mooned someone, that that was the SUPER moon, so where is the crack, you know what I mean, the permanent vertical smile...kinda the same style crack that is in your skull, and I didn't hear you howling as well this time...guess you didnt want to scare away that timber wolf...e
