Savannah’s Calling Me

She called me tonight and questioned me as to why after twenty years that I would leave her for another. I told her that she was becoming too pricey for me and that there were other places to see. Therefore we threw caution to the wind and found another one to give our affection to… (Jekyll Island, GA.) That was three months ago and I thought Savannah, GA. was just a now distant yet fond memory…I was wrong, she will not loosen her sweet talons of joy from my heart, nor will she let me savor the flavor of another without remorse in my soul…below is just a short excerpt of her conversation tonight…Hmmm, I guess we may soon be going home. Yep, Savannah, Ga. has got its grip on me…

Savannah’s Calling Me

“Why have you forsaken me and taken another bride?

Did I not soothe thee and give balm to thy soul with my sheltering tide?

So come back to me Allen and let me caress you again.

Let me wrap my tender arms around you the way I did back then.”

“So come now once again to the sea”

My sweet Savannah said to me.

“One year is much too long,

Come now Allen; come home.”

Sometimes we do not appreciate a good thing until we are apart from it. This is true whether it be a loved on a loved place or simply love.

This is an excellent piece of writing and so closely reflects my own feelings about this sultry southern lady I call home. I was born here, have lived in many other places, but Savannah will always be my cherished home. Yes, she's still calling you Allen!

Like a sailor gone too long

Once she gets beneath your flesh

She won't leave you alone

For those whom she admires the most
