If You Could But See The Sea

If you could but see the sea as I do in my soul, when I and it see’s the sea.

If you could but hear within your spirit as I do in my spirit of its mighty roar.

Then you would in part understand what this and it all truly means to me.

Like when I stand beneath the April sun, the cool greens steal into this heart of mine.

I solidify, I dissipate and reform myself in a world of glory beyond the vestiges of time.

I cry no more to the end of things, nor do I challenge the concerns of a strange day .

I envelop the soft whiteness which captures the essence of me as I slip quietly beneath an incoming wave.

I hear no more the cries of the ten million and five nor feel of the blistering pain.

The coolness of the deep relieves me; the muffled roar bequeaths me a new name.

For I am now the sea and the sea is me and together forever we shall always be.

I'm with you Allen! I am inescapably commected to the sea. I don't think I could live anywhere that is not on the coast for very long. It is cleansing and powerful -inexorable. I greatly appreciate you offering such lovely compliments about my home town, knowing where you were when you wrote this. Don't be a stranger. Come back often. She will always call you back. Great write!

I love the feeling your words sedice from my memory. I'll be right there Saturday and I'm all crazy knowing every hour makes me nearer to the ocean. I miss standing barefoot and ankle deep in the surf and as the tide comes and goes, the sand under my feet us alive and flows out from under them. It's all about the magic of Tybee and the
part of a body at peace on the sand.
Love,
Susan
