Essence Of Solitude

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Due to the downturn in business, time has caught up with itself, and for the second time this year I find the doors to my place of work closed for the week. On the glorious wonderful side of it all, it has allowed me ample time to explore the rivers just a couple of miles down the road from my home… I hope you will enjoy this walk as much as I did.

Essence Of Solitude

Dreamscapes steal past moving shadows.

Soft winds dance through autumn leaves.

Essence of solitude greets a yearning soul.

Silence whispers ever so gently to me.

Ghost of long ago travelers slip fast on the moving stream.

Sparkles of light shimmer; and beckon indulgence unto this dream.

A Red Tail Hawk soars high above on the invisible wind.

Echoes mummer off rock walls of old; ESSENCE OF SOLITUDE…

grips my soul and grips my soul and…

Beautiful write. What is it about autumn that stirs the soul so much?
Whatever it is; it is beautiful.

Beautifully serene photograph! Nothing like spending a little time in the peaceful quiet of nature at its best. To receive all the gifts that God has placed before us in all its beauty and splendor....

Be safe,
Karen

...and whisks you down the river. You drag your fingers to slow the pull, but too late--the invisible wind has stolen your name--fed it to the hawk who was hungry. So now you belong to the river now, but your feet are still on the ground.

Like the sound, like the imagery and like the subject. This line says it all, "grips my soul and grips my soul and…" - love that last "and" -David

The soul of a poet rich with the surrounding quiet is solitude for a rich heart. You allow me a brief respite from the rapid rush here in Brandon.
Thank you ,
Love and blessings,

Nicely done. Sometimes a little solitude allows us the freedom to explore our souls.
