Beneath A Mimosa Tree
Beneath a mimosa tree I lay down my face to the coolness of grass.
I wept tears from a repentant heart; I prayed this trouble to pass.
The years of my days slid quickly like the evenings setting sun.
And for the first time since the news, I alone before God came undone.
I could taste the earth as my tears streamed mingling in the dirt on the ground.
I could smell the sweetness of blossoms from the mimosa above my head.
Images of Leah drifted across the tender places of my heart and mind.
I was reminded of when we first met beneath another mimosa in a distant time.
Fresh tears welled from deep inside; oh my heart which bore such grief.
Sweet Jesus, oh sweet Jesus I pray that you hear this sinners plea.
Lift up now my wife and bring her into glorious healing this night.
Take from her the darkness that the doctors say grow within.
And deliver her now in your righteousness to complete health once again.
Beneath a mimosa tree I lay down my face to the coolness of grass.
A voice rose from within; Peace be still, this season will soon pass.
For I have heard the cry that comes so deep within your soul.
And it is my will that Leah your wife be made whole.
The sun set just beyond the dark green pines.
I rose from the earth where I did just lay.
I saw my tears on the cool green grass and sighed.

My heart aches for you and Leah - as you water the Mimosa tree with your tears, crying out to God, know He hears - and understands -
