Fifty One Days

Fifty one days since this ear has heard the sweet words I love you.

There are no lips in which to kiss, no hand to hold, only silence on shades of blue.

I love you…I love you so much I hear myself to the empty room say.

Silence returns my call as I muddle yet through another lonesome day.

To some they are just words set forth in some mechanical song.

Yet for me and their absence drives the ever present sorrow home.

For when you died on that fateful day I buried much more than you.

I buried with you our dreams that once traced the moonlit sky…

I buried also the solitary reasons that I should survive.

No one knows unless they have themselves placed their true love in the ground.

No one knows the desperate hurt or the haunting cry which keeps the soul bound.

Fifty one days, and the hours tick away… soon to be fifty two.

I guess this is to be my providence for being so in love with you.

I agree with Karla, I think you should talk to someone in the meantime know that you are being showered in pairs

Though your words are hauntingly beautiful, I, like Karla, am growing concerned at the direction your poetry seems to be taking. I add my urging to hers: please talk to a grief counselor, and know that I continue to pray for you.

The love and the pain never goes away, but somehow we find a special place for it in our lives so that we can manage to go on. My heart goes out to you, Allen. May you find peace in the beauty of the time you shared.
Take care,
Sherry

"Better to have loved & lost, than to have not loved at all"

Don't remember who said that, and little solace it gives you, but its a thought...Ed

These words ----- your words-----are always very painful for me to read because they are so genuine...so beautiful....so sincere....and...I know and understand your loss too well.... "I buried much more than you"..... oh how I know that pain... I wish I could make you feel better, but you are doing the right thing...letting it go...speaking to her thru your brilliant pen....We know you are in pain, and we care... lindalaw

((((((HUGS))))))) and prayers!

(((Allen)))

Oh, the depths of your pain is revealed in haunting words. I'm so sorry: wish there was something I could do. Powerfully penned: the line,

" ...I buried also the solitary reasons I should survive ...."

is particularly frightening to me. You've a right to grieve; you were so in love, still are: something precious has been taken. It's only been 51 days; it's going to take time. What? To forget? To live again? No. Please: talk to someone. Please. I'm worried about you -

(((HUGS))) love and prayer, Karla. *tears*
