Dreams
The air is hot, and sticky sweet as I sit down in the double swing on the front porch.
I stare out into the moon lit night, and I ponder many things present and before.
The aroma of the Confederate Jasmine walks on invisible legs and silently sedates.
The nocturnal sounds lull me to sleep as I dream gentle of another time and place.
I smell the ocean; I feel the warm sand beneath my feet, and I softly smile.
I am walking, the warm gulf waters swirl around my feet, I keep walking, mile after mile.
Somewhere ahead I hear laughter, I hear music, and Areosmith singing “Dream On”
The tide begins to recede, the music grows louder and I see a neon sign that reads, “Welcome home”.
The morning sun on my face now awakens me, my cat fast asleep in my lap, and I still on the front porch.
I get up to go inside and make coffee, and I see a butterfly spread its wings flying into the rising sun towards that secret shore.
