The Little Seed Of Love

I asked a very dear friend of mine of who I care for very much what she thought of the last chapter of my soon to be released book; “Glimpse Of An Angel”, Her answer did not surprise me, but confirmed the emotions I felt 25 years ago had translated to paper fairly accurate despite the quarter century spread in time.

I sent it her to read the final proof before printing and asked her to tell me what she thought about the book. I particularly wanted to know what she thought of the last chapter…for in it is the beginning of my life with Leah…not the end. My sweet dear friend critiqued it with these words…

“It read like puppy love…it sounded like two teenagers head over heels in love”.

She was right in her analyses. Though I was in my late twenties when Leah and I met, I felt like a kid again…

Though many of you all already know how this story ends, I felt it
Important to share with you in the book how it began. I know that it may come across as a bit unconventional by putting the beginning of A story at the end, but all true stories of love never really end, They just start over in a new dimension on the other side of glory.
There are few, if any, who know the details of this journey of love and devotion between the beginning and the end. Our life together began with a prayer of want and ended on a prayer of promise.

The Little Seed Of Love

I remember the softness her smile and I now too smile.

I consider the gentleness in her voice, and I see angels.

The days without her have been darker than I ever dreamed.

Yet, by God’s never ending Grace…I will in my heart find peace.

The sadness comes now from those who say that it is best to forget and move on.

Strange though, when these words are spoken, the sadness is not for me, but them.

I will love again…and I will love complete, yet I shall never ever forget.

For love born of the heart, and blessed by the spirit of God never dies.

For it is like a seed when planted in fertile ground.

It continues on, it multiplies until the fields of tomorrow

Are blossoming with unimaginable glory of God…

All this…from one sweet seed of love planted on a fertile heart 25 years ago.

When it comes to sharing our thoughts with people who grieve, we so often struggle and fall pitifully short, Allen. We can never know exactly how that person feels and have often not been in a comparable situation to be able to empathise. We struggle to know how to help and often get it so very wrong, though well-intentioned in our desires to aid someone "move on", as we see it. "Moving on" is not the same as denying or giving up on what we had. Leah made you who you are at this present moment in time and who you will become. She is in the core of your very soul. When you "move on" she will be within you and breathing through you just the same. "Getting over" a loss is certainly not the same thing as losing that very thing, for it most definitely can never, ever be lost. This is a very clumsy way of saying that your poem says in the most beautiful and gracious way what I am struggling to affirm in this review - that you are in love with Leah truly, madly, deeply... and forever, irrespective of time and circumstances which separate in the flesh. You may love afresh, but that is never to diminish what you already have had with Leah... and will go on having and investing in your life everyday henceforth. May God's love and grace sustain and enfold you every step of the way... Kate xx
