Autumn Leaves
I looked today at the sleeping autumn trees, and I saw me.
I watched the withering, clinging leaves which are soon to be free.
I watched as one broke loose on the gentle, silent push of the wind.
I watched it as through the broken rays of light to the earth it did spin.
I thought of life, and the many cycles that just living does to it bring.
I felt the solitude of that brief moment, and in the fading light I did weep.
I think of the verse in Ecclesiastes 3:1
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven”.
So, pray tell, what shall be this purpose be, into that I in which I am born?
Do these words carry hope, or will they be misconstrue d and sing the song of forlorn?
I know not the answer, yet I pray still for peace…not so much for me, but others.
Thus Lord, let it be unto thy will, and cast aside my cries, and let YOUR peace reign forevermore.
For I am like unto the leaves of autumn; I shine briefly and bright beneath YOUR light.
Yet I shall too someday turn lose, and spin to the earth with the knowledge that the heart will go on…yes, the heart born of love shall go on.
