Dead Eyes and Blank Stares

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

From an image of a person at a diner today…desperation hung like a cloud above his head...bless his heart.

Poem Artwork

Dead Eyes and Blank Stares

Dead eyes – Blank stare

Dreams folded like last week’s laundry without care.

Hope sliced in the fine thin sheets

Nevermore should past and future meet?

His smile faded to a steely black

The past stole the future

Love less hope in darkness crept,

first forward and then slowly back.

Damn the light his closed eyes screamed.

Damn it all to these black dreams.

Hell has its fury – lost love has no hope.

He kisses the lies of silence –

He concludes this life with sweet defiance

As he slips unseen down the final slope.

What excellent photography.. and poetry. Both equally powerful in your reflection of his hopelessness..

I thank the LORD it was you, Bubba.. I know you prayed for this poor soul..
and I know Hope will find him because of it. Now I have prayed for him, too.. and if everyone who reads this does the same, and his life WILL begin to change.

Outstanding work!

Love &Hugs, Sis

You write of deep and dark subjects that stir the soul and illuminate the senses. An excellent view of a mans soul "as he slips down the final slope", drawing vivid pictures in the mind of man. A very deep and probing read, thank you for sharing this exceptional read with us.
