Time, Oh Time, Marches To It’s Own Beat

Yesterday was tomorrow and today is now the past.
No future lie on soft dreams ever last.
So kiss this night and embrace today
For time and the future shall live its own way.

Some say we control our own destiny, our own future.
Yet I say all tomorrows are already consumed in the past
Born of our blatant mistakes.

Thus now dance in the light of tomorrow
And sleep in the dreams of yesterday.
For nothing is real except what we allow to be our future pain.

So dance now to the beat of an unheard drum.
Come quickly, oh, oh quickly for the hour of your darkness has now come.

GREAT poem! Suitable for framing! Yes it's that good!
Today is the DAY! Yes, and it's here and it's NOW!

Amen!

It certainly doesn't hurt to seize the day and live it. But I have found that long-term planning makes the day much easier to live. Like Thoreau so eloquently wrote, "Most men live lives of quiet desperation." That is a result of not thinking ahead and allowing yourself enough slack to enjoy today without jeopardizing tomorrow.

dance to the darkness' beat
exhaust the mind
so it'll never think
feel the rhythm of its defeat
let the currents drown
your tired being
and see the ground
filled with cracks
you see them perfectly
'coz light is coming in.

peace and blessings to you. beautifully written and wonderful poetry. thank you for sharing.
