When you arrived I thought my heart would burst

My second gift that did just like the first

The joy you brought just added to my world

A life before me now would be unfurled

I watched you grow from infant with big eyes

That smiled at me with love to my surprise

While rocking you to sleep these eyes would close

You lay within my arms in sweet repose

With some regret I put you in your bed

As loving thoughts abounded in my head

As years flew by I watched as you unfurled

Into the precious one who filled my world

Then déjà vu returned into my life

I once again, was jilted by my wife

It seems by now I surely would have learned

The ugly, sordid lesson of “twice burned”

So now, I try to make up for the grief

Of time we had together that was brief

Rebecca Lynn I’ll love you all my days

Our hearts are linked together for always
