This poem is about my friend Ben Andrews who died suddenly on the 13th April 2011, in Rockville WV.
Faces spellbound by renditions
O' well worn songs we love to yearn
Tales of blues men's histories given
Each recounted in his turn
Tapping boot keeps perfect rhythm
Fingers make his guitar sing
Creating music like a prism
Shining o'er each gathering
Ragged Delta works fierce magic
In the hearts of those who hear
Beyond the unpretentious, tragic
Story of the blues man's tears
.
Rich voice husky, warm and vital
Softly penetrates the soul
Effervescent blues recital
Finishes with Gallows Pole.
