Visual temptress lures my glance
Inviting me to join the dance
When all at once I 'come aware
Of colours floating in the air
Ambiguous eyes watch warily
From woodland mist through which I see.
Bewitching images detain
Shadows wax and then they wane
First they're there and then they're gone
The vaporous colours say I'm wrong
I seek a figure to pervade
But ambietic thoughts persuade
What is it then, that piques my gaze
As my mind wanders through the haze?
I hear a sound within the blur
Of tinkling laughter - quite absurd
To hear a painting laugh at me
And cause a haunting parody.
