Fallen trees in shades of green 
Willows over waters lean 
The Cormorant attends his post 
Of this fine place he is the host 

Rabbits skipping here and there 
Ducks and Moorhens gather where 
The breezes 'cross the lake can't go 
And birds fly hither, to and fro 

Jasper, with his eyes aloft 
Dreams of swimming to his croft 
He stands out there at water's edge 
His mind engaging in a pledge 

To found a pirate ship anew 
The cormorants as men and crew 
Then purge the shallows to the north 
And drive the ducks and moorhens forth 

The birds that fly there, to and fro 
Will find they're Captain Jazzy's foe 
He'll leap and shout to halt their flight 
Dancing around in sheer delight 

Chasing rabbits east to west 
Favours for the Captains chest 
Then sheltered in his cosy keep 
He'll settle for a well-earned sleep 

Our youngster with his wistful eye 
Suddenly emits a sigh 
Across the lake where all is calm 
No living thing has come to harm 

And all the while from on the shore 
He looks across and dreams some more 
Of all that he could take in hand 
On Jasper's very own Island
