Sun is rising. He's up with the lark
Breakfast finished, off to the park!
Border Collie, hard at play
Acrobatic dog display
Leaping, jumping skilful height
Catching talents, quite a sight
Frisbee soaring, caught mid air
"Wait! What's that? There's P-mail there!
Furry friends have passed this way
They're coming back on Saturday"
Roll around in sun-soaked grass
Then off to our Agility class
Hurdles, high jump, through the ring
Weave poles, tunnels, everything
Seek and find the hidden treat
Clever Collie! A fine athlete!
Home again. "Oh there's our cat
She's caught a mouse, I'll ignore that!"
Fast asleep out on the lawn
Rolling over with a yawn
Hosepipe's coming out. Let's play!
I'm ready for a good cold spray!
Supper over, time to nap
Head reclined on owner's lap
Dream of all tomorrow's fun
Replay of the things we've done
Twitching feet, excitement mounds
Collie makes contented sounds.
There'll never be a sound so sweet
As Collie, snoring at my feet.
Notes: *Skill = skilled but Skilful = UK English,
*Mounds = Stacks up, elevates, accumulates.
*example copy from net... In fall, the excitement mounds as it is time to harvest the beans.
