Whilst walking by the river bank
My lovely canine pack and I
We came upon a natural cove
And lingered there to gratify
 
Whilst Jake explored the undergrowth
And Jasper swam the watering hole
When Loki’s hunting mode kicked in
He dug for mice and sniffed for vole
 
Then in the breeze at water’s edge
The grasses scraped like tiny cries
And up popped Jasper’s tawny nose
But Loki thought it was his prize
 
He pounced at river’s fertile bank
Quite sure his prey was hiding there
Imagine Loki’s  great surprise
When what he met was Jazzy’s glare
 
So Loki, very carefully
Did liberate that tawny muzzle
Then, giving Jazz a real wide berth,
backed off to contemplate his puzzle.
 
 
Note; I was absolutely howling with laughter!
