A contribution to the Mark barone awareness campaign for all neglected and abandoned animals

On Death Row How did this horror happen? What am I doing here? Who can I trust, who’ll come for me To save me from this fear? I wait and wait with love and hope That things will soon amend Before the man who smells of dread Comes calling for my end He’ll come with blood upon his hands And cruelty on his breath His clothes will stink of chemicals With him I’ll meet my death. Oh please come someone, get me out I promise, I did no wrong. I am a good boy you will see But please, don’t be too long? I see him in the corridor The loop is in his hand His eyes are focussing on me I hear his harsh command I know this means my time is up You’ll not reach me in time But could you take the dog next door? Because he’s the next in line. American artist, Mark Barone is now at work, painting 5,500 portraits of abandoned dogs, killed in shelters and pounds across America, to raise awareness about their plight, and to promote adoption. You can see these paintings on the wall on the website. (Link below) When he is finished, these paintings will reside in a museum. I'm with Jerry. As long as people who don't know how or can't take care of dogs either buy them or adopt them or pick them up and then let them breed at will without taking care of them, we'll have this problem. And it will go away soon with people's attitudes when they are.

These people should be found, exposed to public ridicule, and fined heavily for mistreating animals.

This is a Caatch-22 situation, Ruan. I am an animal lover. I am not an animal fanatic. I'm a realist. These dogs, if not adopted, or eventually exterminated, will soon overrun the facilities who take them in. These will mean severe overcrowding and unsafe living conditions. It truly is a horrible situation and I shudder to think about how many dogs will die before this day ends, I hate it, but like I said, it is a definite Catch-22 situation.

It will take Mark Barone two years to paint what we now kill in just one day. We have betrayed Man's Best Friend, and so very few today even care.

As you know, I sponsored 'Spot,' and my spouse is now sponsoring another dog. I hope many visit his website and stare into the eyes and the souls of all these abandoned, left behind dogs that we have forsaken.
