So sad to see the child who cries
For want of love from folks who’d care
Traversing life, no family ties
No guiding hand, no joy to share
There’s no place safe from enemies
No place to go when times get tough
No family fun, no memories
Their childhood’s simply not enough
Where do they turn when life burns out?
Who’ll give advice when things get tight?
Who’ll show them how to work it out...
And buoy morale to make things right?
They long examine and survey
What (in their dreams) there might have been
If they’d been born a different day
Their world might be a different scene
They strive to find a love complete
A warm embrace to soothe their grief
They need to find that soul heart-beat
That fills the void in their belief
When love’s not there they must convert
Two sticks to humbly take its place
One stick, to chivvy and assert
And one to lend support and grace
For this is how the lone survive
There’s nothing there to break a fall
Their own defence they must contrive
And be their own kin one and all.
So...
Understand the one who cries
For want of love and folks who care
Consider what you'd realise
If those you love had not been there.
Always,
Deborah
Splendid thoughts in love and grace.
