The start of reawakening from theraputic hibernation...

Poem Artwork

Just once in a while

Dark clouds roll back

Reveal warmth, light and space

Which dark days lack

Reach from curled cocoon

Dew ‘lights cool on skin

So different from the tears

That fall from fear within

Lean brave into the light

So bright! Tentative limb

Shields eyes, unaccustomed

To recovery’s whim

Unexpected breeze

Creates shiver unforeseen

Recoils in alarm

Refurls to reconvene

Inside dark’s dingy world

Of bubble’s safe embrace

Gather strength to rise

Once more, the world to face.

Yes I have been in the dark of depression and inability to face the world, and sometimes I come out of it and others, I just move along, and deal with it, just as you do when you write of your deep feelings within, herein...keep getting better & stay in the light...-e-

There is much to identify with here by those of us who have ventured into dark places such as you have described. Those dingy dark domains are no place for permanent residence by anyone (especially you) who have so much to share with the world. It would be great therapy to sit around a fire with a glass of wine exchanging tales of the deep with like travelers in this dimly lit world. Writing about it is not quite the same, wouldn’t you say?

There is immediate identity for this reader as often such rolled back darkness comes at inopportune times, but still must be dealt with and managed. Managing, however, is often an esoteric journey down through one's rabbit hole to that often most safe place we know: the writing room. Perhaps that is where you found yourself as well, for the rational, albeit darkly introspection, seems to have a grasp of what might be needed. I've ventured of late into such realms, as well. My "Maybe Tomorrow Night" and "Noiseless Thunder" to mention a couple did allow the lid to be cracked a bit and give relief to the pressure. Your perception and willingness to admit vulnerability will serve you well. Peace.

Taking this at heart, because I know it was written from the heart. The dark does roll back at times just long enough for us to take a deep breath and observe things in a different light. Light. That's the word, and in your poem even when dark returns there is a cocoon of light and wonder which embraces you and makes it possible to take on the world again. Really liked this poem, Ruan.

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
