He loves them – He loves them not

He sidesteps from a time, forgot

When all they were and all they did

Became immersed in darkest bid

To blame and scourge for all his woes

Serve penalty for all his blows

Drive out the best of warmth and trust

Burn and blacken – Sneer disgust

Twist love to doubt and faith to fear

Close doors on all that he holds dear.

Where once he held a high esteem

Displayed a kindness as his theme.

His demons crawled and dampened fast

No loving heart could ever last

No empathy could e’er withstand

Such vengeance at his sole command

Where wrath and petulance must strive

Denial of his faults must thrive

So, he sidesteps from a time forgot

He loves them……but he loves them not.
