What a read! This has made my day. This brings to my mind Psalm 14:1 - The fool has said in his heart that there is no God. I pray for atheists and people who proudly and arrogantly say that there is no God that they may have an encounter with Christ. Well written. Well done Rose!
The trouble with believers like you is that you have been conditioned to think that people like me, who do not believe that the Bible and its stories, while offering many good lessons for life, consider nonbelievers as evil. Christians, throughout history have proselytized heavily, especially in establishing missions to convert pagan people from their terrible behavior. And I believe you know how that turned. The colonial system. In almost every case, when the colonial system failed… And they all failed for their vices. They were replaced with dictatorships that were far worse. Instead of Christianity teaching people how to live, it has destroyed half the globe in Asia and South America. Aided by other religions like Islam.
I hope you don't think me evil for following the best ethics I know and not wasting my personal time on bowing down to old stories from an old book and a hierarchy that is as corrupt as its leaders.
The universe is still to complex for us to "believe" in a creator. I can do fine without defining why I'm here, just fine. It takes a great worry off my shoulders. I will live my life and die. No promises kept for me by some higher authority that I begged for forgiveness from.

We all will meet our maker in the end. I have no doubts that there is a God and I believe in Jesus Christ. My personal experiences with Jesus convicted me. I never want to go back to my old life full of darkness and confusion. I am a walking miracle and I thank God for my new life as it opened so many doors that are priceless. Amen John Michael
Nicely written, V. A good insight. This devolving dark world has always been consumed with notions and concepts about the Creator. But there is only ONE Most High God. And I fully, completely, and utterly believe what the Bible reveals about The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Stand strong in all faith and longsuffering. Peace to you...r
Is there a supreme being out there? Maybe, but I don't know, but when it comes to religion, I'm a non believer. A while back, a friend and I were discussing religious beliefs. He's a born again christian, and a preacher. He described in great detail the beliefs of Muslims, and concluded with, "and they believe that." And I said to him, "so you can see the absurdities of someone else's beliefs, but not your own." That's the trouble with religion. Just take the story of Noah's ark. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights and flooded the whole world, But there is no interruption in recorded history, and no mention of a worldwide flood, anywhere else. If the bible got that wrong, what else what else did it get wrong" Religion defies logical thinking, and is nothing more than a superstition that people use like a crutch to feel good. So I can't really agree with your poem. Even though I'm a non believer, I still consider myself a spiritual person with reverence for all life, the planet we live on, and the mysteries of the universe. That's where my beliefs lie.
Truth to tell, we all have faith in something, even those who "don't believe". They also have a kind of faith in science to prove to be right, at least on the level of the physical plane. But what about the rest of it? Your poem raises questions.
