Here we are at the end of our marriage
remembering the tender words of love
that we uttered in our horse and carriage
tucked together like the wings on a dove
as the world stands far remote we keep bay
inside this velvet room of flower and sage
counting the blessings of a morning ray
sandwiched like two birds in a guilded cage
folded inside the sheets of time we thrive
accordianed like two insturments of old
humming the songs that once made us live
encloaked the dark, we never grew cold
true love is the diamond of old lovers and friends,

A very beautiful and telling story of two people who are so well matched that they wish to spend their entire eternity together. It is the attraction that is in all of us to procreate and then nurture the children. All the while, growing together in an even deeper bond than the attraction that initially brought the two together. This kind of relationship is found throughout nature. We are just the most intelligent so we can write about the experience. Others, like whales, may pass the experience through verbal history.
A lovely tribute to love and marriage, although I didn't understand the first line. It sounded like maybe a divorce is in the works, or someone is leaving. But that's just my opinion.
