That mutation, like albinoism is rare. But I believe it is jaguars that are in danger. And of course, black Jaguars are even rarer, a recessive gene. The term, Black Panther, is given to leopards, mountain lions, and perhaps, some other cat species that are all-black. My younger brothers called the one that popped up in our yard as a kitten, Blackie. But he probably thought he was a panther in disguise. ;-)
