 A Bed of Clover

we were strolling across a vast sea
of deep grass which
covered the meadow
daffodils as far as the eye could see
made the meadow seem
to be our very own
we were holding hands
thinking our thoughts
she clenched her hand in mine
we both stopped
I pulled herself into me
she uttered a small understanding sob
and collapsed in my arms
I lowered her into the vastness
of the meadow
her voice cracked when she said in a tiny voice
“I’ve waited so long for . . .”
I waited, still holding my hand
I nodded, squeezed her harder than
I  wanted to
“ I know,”  I whispered and lay down
Pulling her with me
she didn’t resist, but by then
she was sobbing quietly
I took her across the clover
toward an old ancient oak tree and
when she realized
where we were going she
clenched my hand
hard enough to hurt
we were almost was running toward
the shade of the old, ancient tree
by the time we got to
the shade of the oak tree
she had all the buttons undone
there she began pulling it from her
I stopped her saying
“wait, let me have some fun”
she giggled and stepped back
I took the few steps toward her
and we stood there undressing one another
when we were both naked, she
sank to the ground saying
“please be gentle”
how long we were under that tree
I could not fathom
but she accepted me and my needs
as I did hers
it was dark-thirty
before we finally sated one another
on the way back to the car
we both giggled like teenagers
swearing to each other this would never
be the last time

Must've been some 4 leaf clovers in that bed. And i have to ask, did you tie a yellow ribbon 'round that old oak tree, or just bust some nuts?

An intimate, poetic peek into intimacy, both down to earth and dreamy at the same time.

Lovely is the world between you and her:
Like Adam and Eve,
when nakedness was innocent
and love was pure!
