Poem Artwork

The sun rises high, in the sky above

It’s time to do something, we all love

We pack up the car, with the blankets

A hamper, lotions, spades & buckets

The drive’s, with cries, from the back seat

“Are we nearly there?”, on constant repeat

We arrive, we unpack, descend on the beach

The sun beds & ice cream, just within reach

The lotions applied, the blankets laid out

Then run down to the sea, dive in & shout

“Arrrh, it’s too cold”, then come out shivering

Deciding, for now, sun bathing’s the best thing

So, we rest & relax, then lunch we digest

Sandwiches & drinks, the flies are a pest

Buzzing around, whilst we try to eat

Or crawling up our, arms, legs or feet

Time to explore, in the rock pool we wade

Or gather water, for the moat, that we made

Surrounding the castle, cast out of sand

Then walk on the pier, to hear the brass band

Now, it is warmer, we’ll swim in the sea

But, it ends too quickly, when stung by a bee

The ointments applied, the crying will stop

Then up to the prom, to the fish’n’chip shop

The evening draws near, the sun goes down

It’s to time to leave, the little seaside town

Buying cockles, whelks & mussels, on the way

As we head home, at the end of the day

Good write for Independence Day! The sea is the place 2B!

Peace, God's agape love, abundant blessings,

A perfect childhood day at the beach. As time goes on, memories grow fonder and all those little ills and inconveniences described disappear in the mist of time.

This poem brought lovely moments into my mind. It is well-written
and is a joy to read, it brings some type of relaxation to your mind
because it gives the reader the chance to imagine the whole scenery
and it is a good, comfortable relaxing one. Keep the good write up!

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
